How does Electrolyzed Water work? When the Electrolyzed Water comes in contact with bacteria or viruses, it breaks them down and renders them harmless. Electrolyzed Water has other benefits, too. It cleans surfaces, cuts grease, and lifts residue. These properties give you a more effective and healthier cleaning than any other conventional or green product on the market.
-
How is Electrolyzed Water different from traditional cleaners?Traditional cleaning solutions bond with dirt instead of breaking it down, so surfaces are never fully clean. The residues left behind can be harmful, creating a haven for bacteria and leading to increased irritants, allergens, and even superbugs. Electrolyzed Water leaves absolutely no residue, and it will remove all residual scum and build up from other products. It breaks up dirt, bacteria, and viruses into harmless particles that our Trü Clean Today team easily removes with cloths and mops.
-
Does Electrolyzed Water have a scent?Electrolyzed Water has no added fragrances, but it does have a light, clean swimming pool scent. The scent is naturally created when salt, water & vinegar are electrolyzed. Hypochlorous acid, the antimicrobial ingredient in Electrolyzed Water, is a type of chlorine (hence the pool scent). Many people don’t know that there are different types of chlorine. Hypochlorous acid is actually the same substance your immune system produces to fight infection. And because it’s so gentle, it’s commonly used in wound healing, eye care & veterinary care products.
-
Does Electrolyzed Water disinfect or sanitize?Yes, Electrolyzed Water is an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) registered medical-grade disinfectant and sanitizer. It kills 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, mold and mildew, including Norovirus, Influenza A, Salmonella, MRSA, Staph, Listeria, Pseudomonas, respiratory viruses and the viruses that cause flus, when used on hard non-porous surfaces. The EPA has registered Electrolyzed Water for disinfecting and sanitizing hospitals, ICUs, schools, daycares, veterinary clinics and more.

Does Electrolyzed Water kill the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19?Electrolyzed Water is on EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) List of Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19.
-
Does Electrolyzed Water kill the variants of SARS-CoV-2?Electrolyzed Water is on EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) List N, the disinfectants approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Per the EPA, “EPA expects all products on List N to kill all strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. Genetic changes to the virus do not impact the efficacy of disinfectants.”

Does your Electrolyzed Water actually work?Yes! Electrolyzed Water actually works! It’s an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) registered disinfectant & sanitizer that kills 99.9% of germs, mold and mildew. It’s just as effective as the leading brands with no harmful chemicals (proven in independent 3rd party lab testing) such as Formula 409 on grease, Windex on glass, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors and Resolve on rugs and carpets. We know it’s hard to believe that you can convert salt, water & vinegar into such a powerful cleaner & disinfectant, but this electrolyzed water technology, has actually existed for years in the industrial space.

On what types of surfaces can Electrolyzed Water be used on?Electrolyzed Water can be used virtually anywhere for just about any job requiring cleaning, deodorizing or disinfecting. In kitchens, break rooms or other food prep areas, Electrolyzed Water cleans sticky messes, grease & grime while killing odors & germs like Salmonella. We use it on counters (including sealed stone like granite, marble, quartz, wood, laminate), glass, appliances (including on stainless steel). On glass & stainless steel, because Electrolyzed Water has no drying accelerants like ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners do, we wipe with a clean cloth until the surface is completely dry. In restrooms, Electrolyzed Water kills 99.9% of germs on hard non-porous surfaces, and also kills odors & removes soap scum. We use it on all your restroom surfaces including grout, tile, sealed marble, porcelain, glass and high touch areas like door knobs and faucets. For surfaces where the use an abrasive like a scrub brush (for example with soap scum) is needed, depending on surface porosity & build up, we may need a mild abrasive like baking soda with our scrub brush the 1st few times. In offices, it’s great for desks, white boards & chalk boards, high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, faucets & light switches, lunch areas, water fountains, and restrooms. Electrolyzed Water is also great in nurseries and daycares for diaper pails, changing pads, and baby toys. Also, highly effective in veterinary environments, Electrolyzed Water cleans disinfects & deodorizes stains and odors with no harmful residues or fumes.

Is Electrolyzed Water safe on stone?Yes, Electrolyzed Water is safe to use on sealed stone. Unlike vinegar, our solution is safe on sealed stone because of the chemistry change that happens when the solution is electrolyzed.
-
Does it leave behind any kind of film or residue?Electrolyzed Water doesn’t leave behind the harmful residues that conventional cleaners do. We simply spray the solution on any surface and wipe dry with a clean cloth. On glass & stainless steel, because Electrolyzed Water has no drying accelerants like ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners do, we wipe with a clean cloth until the surface is completely dry.

What makes Electrolyzed Water different from other natural or green cleaners? So many things! First, Electrolyzed Water starts with only 3 ingredients – Water, Salt & Vinegar. It has no dyes, fragrances, preservatives, surfactants, bleach, alcohol, quats, hydrogen peroxide or any other harmful chemicals. Many natural cleaning products use botanical-sounding ingredients, but many of those can actually be harmful allergens & irritants. Thymol is an example – though it’s derived from thyme oil, it’s a known allergen. Another example is that many “natural cleaners” contain methylisothiazolinone, a preservative linked to allergies, lung, neurological and organ toxicity. About 40% of kids and 30% of adults in the US have asthma or allergies, and the CDC recommends avoiding cleaners with fragrances, bleach and quats around them because of the health risks. We’re also very different from a sustainability standpoint. Our solution is Green Seal Certified for meeting the highest standards in protecting health, preserving the climate, and minimizing waste. Our system eliminates single-use plastic bottles.

Is this the same as diluted bleach? No, hypochlorous acid is not the same as bleach; it has a different chemical composition than bleach (sodium hypochlorite). The formula for sodium hypochlorite is NaOCl and the formula for hypochlorous acid is HOCl. Hypochlorous acid is the same substance your white blood cells produce to fight infection. And it’s so gentle it’s used in wound healing, eye care and veterinary care products. Bleach is defined as: 1) having a pH of 11+ 2) being at a concentration high enough to remove the color from fabric and 3) 99%+ NaOCl; none of these apply to hypochlorous acid. An interesting fact is that you need a lot more bleach to achieve the same anti-microbial power as hypochlorous acid. The order of magnitude varies by microbe, but overall HOCl is a much more efficient antimicrobial than bleach, so you don’t need nearly as much. That’s why it’s used in so many industrial applications where gentleness (on for example on skin, animals, produce) is critical.
